People ask me how I compose.
I never know what to answer. Because the truth sounds strange, and I’ve learned that strange truths make people uncomfortable.
But you’re here. You stayed. So I’ll tell you.
I don’t compose. I receive.
The 3 AM Hours
There are hours that don’t belong to the day. They exist in between — after midnight, before dawn, when the world forgets to watch.
That’s when the music comes.
Not because I summon it. Not because I sit down with discipline and intention. But because at those hours, something opens. A door I can’t see. A channel I can’t explain.
I’ll be staring at nothing — a window, a wall, the darkness behind my closed eyes — and suddenly it’s there. A melody that didn’t exist a second before. Harmonies I didn’t plan. Emotions I didn’t know I was carrying.
I don’t write the music down.
I chase it.
Like trying to remember a dream before it fades. Like catching smoke with bare hands. Like following someone you love through a crowded street, terrified you’ll lose them.
The Languages I Didn’t Choose
When a piece arrives, it comes with its own tongue.
Sometimes it speaks Spanish — fire and longing and unfinished sentences.
Sometimes Greek — ancient, salt-worn, tasting of wine and loss.
Sometimes it speaks no language at all — just breath, just strings, just the sound of something breaking open.
I don’t decide. I listen. And I follow where it leads.
This is why my albums sound like travels through countries I may or may not have visited. Because the music knows places I don’t. It remembers things I can’t.
What I Can’t Explain
Here’s the part I don’t tell interviewers:
Sometimes, when a piece is finished, I don’t recognize it.
I’ll listen back and think: Who wrote this? Where did this come from?
It has my fingerprints. My choices. My imperfections. But it also has something else — something that feels borrowed. Gifted. Entrusted.
I don’t know what to call it. Inspiration is too small a word. Channeling sounds too mystical.
So I just call it the visit.
When the music visits, I open the door. I let it stay as long as it needs. And when it leaves, it always leaves something behind.
That something is what you hear.
Why I’m Telling You This
Because you’re not here by accident.
The algorithm didn’t bring you. Luck didn’t bring you. Something in you recognized something in the music, and you followed it here.
That means you understand what I’m saying. Even if you’ve never composed a note in your life.
You know what it’s like to receive something you can’t explain.
A feeling. A certainty. A pull toward something the world says doesn’t exist.
You know.
And that’s why I’m sharing this with you.
The Invitation
I create music for the ones who feel too much.
For the ones who hear more than sound — who hear intention, and ache, and the silence between the notes.
